Dowry Allegations Rock Faridpur Village as Newlywed Woman Dies Under Suspicious Circumstances; Husband Arrested
A newly married woman from Faridpur village under Hussainganj Police Station area was found dead under suspicious circumstances, triggering dowry death allegations. Her husband has been arrested and four in-laws booked as police investigate claims of mental and physical harassment linked to dowry demands for an Apache bike.
According to official information, the deceased woman’s brother, Windhyachal Sah, a resident of Jatapur under Ziradei Police Station limits, filed a complaint at Hussainganj Police Station. He alleged that his sister was married in 2024 to Upendra Sah of Faridpur village according to Hindu rituals. The complaint states that shortly after the marriage, the in-laws began demanding a motorcycle, specifically an Apache bike, as dowry.
The complainant further alleged that when the demand was not fulfilled, the woman was subjected to continuous mental and physical harassment by her husband and his family members. It is further claimed that due to non-fulfillment of dowry demands, the husband, along with his family members, killed the woman.
Following the complaint, police registered a First Information Report against four members of the in-laws’ family. Acting swiftly, law enforcement authorities arrested the husband, Upendra Sah, on Tuesday and sent him to judicial custody after preliminary questioning. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused, who are currently absconding.
The incident has caused widespread shock and tension in the village, with grieving family members overwhelmed by sorrow. Police reached the scene immediately after receiving information, took custody of the body, and sent it for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police officials confirmed that the investigation is being conducted from all possible angles. The Station House Officer stated that the postmortem report will play a crucial role in establishing the cause of death, after which further legal action will be taken.
The case has once again brought attention to persistent concerns over dowry-related violence, leaving the local community deeply disturbed as the investigation continues.
